Julien Rasquinet, Senior Perfumer at CPL Aromas and Francesca Bonati, Associate Director for Fragrance Development at Amouage discuss with Dominique Roques, a sourcer of natural ingredients for the perfume industry for over 30 years and author of In Search of Perfumes: A lifetime journey to the sources of nature’s scents, about the arrival of a new natural ingredient in the perfumers’ palette, gowé. This very popular plant in West Africa is valued for its healing properties as well as being burned like incense. Yet, until now, this ingredient had not been used in contemporary perfumery. Together, they delve into the journey from identifying a natural ingredient of interest to setting up a sustainable industry and validating the extract.
