Ayesha Mualla is a social anthropologist, specialised in frankincense. Over the past three years, she has not only been an enthusiastic teacher but has also conducted research on frankincense usages in the omani culture. Spending much of her field work in the Land of Frankincense in the Dhofar region, she reflects on the revival of this « gold of the desert » as a symbol of the country’s identity.
She lectures and shares her expertise at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences of Nizwa. We met with her in this city located an hour and a half south of Muscate.
